Regional Forms

Regional Forms (also called Regional Variants) are alternative forms of Pokémon that have adapted to specific environments in different regions. These forms often have different types, appearances, stats, and abilities compared to their original forms. Regional variants were first introduced in Generation 7 with Alolan Forms and have appeared in every generation since.

Alolan Forms (Generation 7) were discovered in the tropical Alola region, where Kanto Pokémon adapted to island life. Notable examples include Ice-type Alolan Vulpix, Dark/Normal Alolan Rattata, and Psychic/Ghost Alolan Marowak. Galarian Forms (Generation 8) hail from the industrial Galar region, featuring Steel-type Galarian Meowth evolving into Perrserker, and Poison/Psychic Galarian Slowking.

Hisuian Forms (Legends: Arceus) represent ancient Sinnoh variants that went extinct in modern times, such as Fire/Ghost Hisuian Typhlosion and Dark/Poison Hisuian Qwilfish evolving into Overqwil. Paldean Forms (Generation 9) introduced new variants like Paldean Wooper (Poison/Ground) and Paldean Tauros with three distinct breeds (Combat, Blaze, Aqua).
