Ultra Beasts

Ultra Beasts (Japanese: ウルトラビースト Ultra Beast) are a group of extradimensional Pokémon originating from Ultra Space, introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. These mysterious creatures possess otherworldly appearances and immense power, with each one having a base stat total of 570 or higher. Unlike regular Pokémon, Ultra Beasts are identified by code names (e.g., UB-01 Symbiont, UB-02 Absorption) before their true names are discovered.

All Ultra Beasts share the signature ability Beast Boost, which raises their highest stat by one stage after knocking out an opponent, making them increasingly powerful as battle progresses. They can only be caught using special Beast Balls, Poké Balls specifically designed to capture creatures from Ultra Space. In the games, Ultra Beasts are encountered through Ultra Wormholes—rifts in space-time that connect the Pokémon world to other dimensions.

The 11 known Ultra Beasts include fan favorites like Nihilego (a parasitic jellyfish), Buzzwole (a massively muscular mosquito), Pheromosa (an elegant cockroach), Kartana (an origami samurai), and the legendary Necrozma which can fuse with Solgaleo or Lunala. Each Ultra Beast has a unique design philosophy that contrasts sharply with traditional Pokémon aesthetics, emphasizing their alien nature.
